AITC awards 25 mini-grants for school projects

Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom awarded more than $12,500 in grant funding to 25 schools and other education programs through its mini-grant program this fall.

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has released a new Food & Ag Resource Guide at agfoundation.org/ag-resource-guide that features recommended agriculture-related resources by age group. 



Montgomery County woman earns national Excellence in Teaching honor

Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year Marlena “K” Preston of Montgomery County is one of six recipients of the National Agriculture in the Classroom organization’s 2015 Excellence in Teaching Award.



My Virginia Plate will be 2015 Virginia AITC book of year

Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom program has named My Virginia Plate, written by Tammy Maxey and illustrated by Kevin Pitts and Greg Cravens, its 2015 Virginia AITC Book of the Year.



What’s in the Garden? will be 2014 Virginia AITC book of year

Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom program has selected What’s in the Garden?, written by Marianne Berkes and illustrated by Cris Arbo, as its 2014 Virginia AITC Book of the Year.



Virginia’s AITC program receives national grant

Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom program is the recipient of the 2012 Agriculture in the Classroom Excellence Grant from the National Agriculture in the Classroom Consortium. This is the fifth time the Virginia program has received an ACE Grant.



Virginia AITC sets record for teacher workshop participation

Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom program has set a record for teacher workshop participation. A total of 2,188 educators attended 102 workshops during the 2011-2012 school year, and many more utilized lesson plans on the AITC website.
