Va. Young Farmers win national awards at AFBF centennial convention

Virginia Young Farmers once again garnered national recognition as they competed at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s centennial convention Jan. 11-16.

Limited-scale aquaculture production for the local market is the theme of the 31st Annual Aquaculture Field Day at Virginia State University. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the university’s Randolph Farm, 4415 River Road. 

New State Fair exhibit will honor Secretariat owner

A new exhibit paying tribute to Penny Chenery, owner of Triple Crown champion Secretariat, will debut at the State Fair of Virginia. The exhibit, which will honor her legacy at the birthplace of Secretariat, will serve as the highlight of the Meadow Hall tours during the fair.
