Shenandoah County farmer re-elected to Farm Bureau board

Shenandoah County cattle and grain producer Peter A. Truban of Woodstock was elected Dec. 1 to a third three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.

Elections of officers and directors were held at the VFBF 2016 Annual Convention in Hot Springs.

As a board member Truban will represent Farm Bureau producer members in Clarke, Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah and Warren counties.

He chairs the VFBF Land Use Advisory Committee and is a member of the VFBF Soybean & Feed Grains & Grain Marketing Advisory Committee and National Affairs Committee.

Truban has been involved with Farm Bureau for more than 30 years, is a past president of Shenandoah County Farm Bureau and serves on that organization’s board.

He previously served as a county committee member for the Shenandoah and Northern Counties Farm Service Agency, has served on Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Advisory Committee and is a trustee at Woodstock United Methodist Church.

Truban operates his family’s farm, Jadwyn Acres Farms Inc., a 300-head cattle operation. He also grows small grains, hay and corn.

With 126,000 members in 88 county Farm Bureaus, VFBF is Virginia’s largest farmers’ advocacy group. Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, nonpartisan, voluntary organization committed to supporting Virginia’s agriculture industry and preserving the Virginia way of life.
