Middlesex County cattle producer W. Ellis Walton of Church View was elected Dec. 1 to a third three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.
 
Elections of officers and directors were held at the VFBF 2016 Annual Convention in Hot Springs.

As a board member Walton will represent Farm Bureau producer members in Caroline, Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland counties.

He chairs the VFBF Aquaculture Advisory Committee and is a member of the Membership Services Advisory Committee and the Compensation Committee.

Walton has been a Farm Bureau member for 48 years, serves on the Middlesex County Farm Bureau board of directors and is a past president of that organization. He also serves on the board of the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom.

He owns 435 acres of farmland and has 82 South Devon cattle. In addition to farming, Walton spent three years in the U.S. Army as an engineer heavy equipment repairman and worked for 35 years as a pipefitter.

He is chairman of the administrative committee for the Mid-Tidewater Baptist Association and serves as a deacon and moderator at Hermitage Baptist Church. He and his wife, Linda, have three daughters, one son and seven grandchildren.
