Many consumers in search of Virginia life insurance policies, as well as policies in other states nationwide, may look through their work or "employer" before anywhere else, a report found.
Twenty percent of those who searched for life insurance last year considered policies from their employers, a study by LIMRA discovered. Of this percentage, three out of four ended up choosing their work's policy for coverage.
"Clearly, the convenience of having the resource at their place of work coupled with the feeling of security felt by working with someone their employer has (implicitly) approved, are drawing consumers to this channel," said Kim Landry, Analyst, LIMRA Group Product Research.
However that may not be enough. A change in marital status and a new baby arriving soon were cited as two of the main reasons those polled by LIMRA stated they began searching for life insurance coverage last year.
