Don't Share The Flu

Nobody wants the flu. But if you get it, you don’t want to share it. Whether at work, home, or school, follow these tips to help stop the spread of flu germs and protect those around you this season:

  1. Avoid close contact. If you’re sick, stay away from others. If they’re sick, keep your distance.
  2. Stay home. If possible, stay home from work, school, and running errands so you don’t infect other people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend staying home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone—without the use of a fever reducer.
  3. Cover your coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue, or cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow to avoid infecting your hands.
  4. Wash your hands—often. Kill germs by using soap and warm water for 20 seconds. When soap isn’t available, try alcohol-based hand sanitizer.   Finally, if you have the flu, talk to your doctor about antiviral drugs. In addition to treating symptoms, they can shorten the time you’re sick—meaning you have fewer chances to infect other people.
