Organic food producers, handlers eligible for certification cost share reimbursements

RICHMOND—Starting March 20, organic food producers and handlers will be able to apply for federal reimbursement to assist with the cost of receiving and maintaining organic transitional certification, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The USDA reimburses organic producers up to 75 percent of the cost of organic certification. Growers also will be able to request cost share reimbursement through the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
