If you’ve ever struggled to install a child safety seat, you know it can be a physical challenge. National surveys have shown that as many as 80 percent of all child safety seats are improperly installed, according to Jimmy Maass, Virginia Farm Bureau safety manager. “It’s important that the seat be installed correctly so that it will protect your child should you be involved in a crash,” Maass said. “According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, crashes are the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 3 and 14.”
To help you install your child safety seat properly, Virginia Farm Bureau will be holding a will be holding a Child Safety Seat Check this weekend: March 31 at the Kroger at 11895 W. Broad Street in Short Pump (just west of Richmond). The check will occur from 9am to 1pm.
