Worst Toys For 2012

In the eyes of a child, every toy is cool. But parents know not every toy may be safe.

 

As we come down the home stretch this Christmas shopping season, the watchdog group World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (WATCH) recently released its annual “10 Worst Toys” report, listing toys with the potential to cause injuries to kids.

Here’s the list, along with the reported hazard for each:

  1. Magnetic Fishing Game, manufactured by Kole Imports, sold by Amazon.com—Choking hazard
  2. Bongo Ball, manufactured and sold by Toys R Us—Adult supervision warnings not sufficient
  3. Dart Zone Quick Fire 12 Dart Gun, manufactured by Prime Time Toys, sold online by Amazon.com, Sears.com, and others—Eye injuries, inconsistent age recommendations
  4. Spinner Shark 4-Wheel Kneeboard, manufactured by FuzionNextsport, sold at WalMart and Amazon.com—Impact injuries
  5. Explore & Learn Helicopter, manufactured by VTech, sold by Target, Walmart.com, ToysRUs.com, Kohls.com, Sears.com, Kmart.com, and Amazon.com—Crib and playpen injuries
  6. N-Force Vendetta Double Sword, manufactured by Hasbro, sold by Target, ToysRUs.com, and Walmart.com—Facial and other impact injuries
  7. Water Balloon Launcher, manufactured by Water Sports LLC, sold by Amazon.com—Severe injury or facial damage, choking hazard, conflicting age recommendations
  8. Power Rangers Super Samurai Shogun Helmet, manufactured by Bandai, sold by Target, Kmart.com, and Amazon.com—Penetrating impact and puncture wound injuries
  9. Playful Xylophone, manufactured by P’Kolino, sold by Magic Beans—Choking hazard
  10. The Avengers Gamma Green Smash Fists, manufactured by Hasbro, sold by Target, Kohls.com, and Amazon.com—Blunt force injuries

When buying any toy, parents are always advised to use their best judgment to avoid any potential safety risks for the specific child.
