What’s white and black and driven all over? The top two vehicle colors in North America.
For the sixth year in a row, white/white pearl is the most popular color for North American cars and trucks. It’s the paint color of choice on 24 percent of all vehicles, according to the 2012 DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report. Black/black effect is the second most popular color, coming in a close second at 19 percent.
The complete top 10 of car colors is as follows:
1. White/white pearl—24%
2. Black/black effect—19%
3. Silver—16%
4. Gray—15%
5. Red—10%
6. Blue—7%
7. Brown/beige—5%
8. Yellow/gold—2%
9. Green—2%
10. Others—less than 1%
Before white was the top color, silver reigned in the top spot from 2001 to 2006.
