Virginia Ranks High for Retirees

When you think about retiring, do you think about Virginia? After the latest Top 10 rankings for the best places in the U.S. to retire, more people will be considering Virginia in their retirement plans.

Virginia snagged the #6 spot in the Bankrate.com rankings—beating out traditional retirement meccas like Arizona and even Florida, both of which didn’t even make the list.

The best spots aren’t just about temperate weather and year-round golf. Bankrate.com cited several additional important factors for seniors to support its rankings, including access to medial care, cost of living, crime rates, and state and local tax rates. Specifically, Virginia was called out for its cost of living, warmer temperatures, and access to physicians, as well as its low crime rate and abundance of national and historic attractions.
