RICHMOND—Business owners interested in capturing a greater market share have an opportunity to attend a one-day workshop with an internationally-recognized business consultant.

The Virginia Community Viability Institute: Marketing from Obscurity to a Vibrant Consumer Destination will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa Short Pump. The all-day conference is partially sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture, Innovation and Rural Sustainability.

Participants will spend the day working with Jon Schallert, whose 14-step “Destination Business” strategy has been used by businesses to capture more market share, even when larger competitors seem to have an advantage. Destination Business explores the process of how a business or community markets itself and elevates the unique qualities that a targeted customer finds most important.
