RICHMOND—A Richmond company will be one of the major suppliers for this year’s World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky.
Green Duck produces compostable and biodegradable to-go plasticware expected to be used by 600,000 people who will be attending the games.
"We are very excited to be a part of this full-circle solution," said owner Jocelyn Tice. "This is a very high-profile event that is making efforts" to curtail waste and preserve natural resources. "The larger events are a representation of what should be going on, and this will help other events catch on."
Green Duck had plans to ship about 5,000 cases of product—about 3 million pieces of to-go ware—to Lexington. "Between the food waste and to-go packaging waste, the majority of it will be composted rather than go to a landfill," Tice said.
