BLACKSBURG—Two October seminars are being planned for legal and financial professionals who serve rural landowners and clients with rural enterprises.

The Rural Land and Agribusiness Update will be held Oct. 1 at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel and Oct. 22 at the Wytheville Meeting Center. It is designed for attorneys, foresters, accountants, financial planners, appraisers and professionals in related fields.

Landowners also can attend the seminars to learn more about tax and legal issues and the specifics of estate and business transfer plans, conservation programs and tools for maintaining rural land wealth.

Participation in either update program qualifies for Virginia and North Carolina continuing legal ethics credits and continuing professional education credits for Virginia certified public accountants.

Registration for the Charlottesville seminar is $150 before Sept. 24 or $200 afterward for attorneys, and $45 before Sept. 24 or $60 afterward for non-attorneys.

Registration for the Wytheville seminar is $150 before Oct. 15 or $200 afterward for attorneys, and $45 by Oct. 15 or $60 afterward for non-attorneys.

Sponsors are the North Carolina Farm Transfer Network, the Southern Region Risk Management Education Center, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, Virginia Tech and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
