With springtime allergy season in full swing, it’s a good time to think about what other allergy triggers might be in your home—especially if you suffer from indoor allergies as well.
Here’s a list of allergy hot spots that could be wreaking havoc with your health at home:
1. For folks with indoor allergies, potted plants can harbor many triggers like mold spores, dust, and pet dander.
2. Carpets and rugs accumulate dust and cause a feeding frenzy for microscopic dust mites—which can be a real issue for indoor allergy sufferers.
3. Books are happy hangouts for dust mites, mold spores, and booklice, and can cause indoor allergies to make you very unhappy.
4. Dust mites also love stuffed animals—wash them regularly in hot water and dry them thoroughly to keep the sniffles and sneezies away.
5. Your air conditioning can also add to your allergy problems, thanks to dust and mold on cooling coils.
If you have indoor allergies, talk to your doctor about more ways to prevent allergy triggers from making you miserable in your own home.
