Four 2013 models were recently named “Top Safety Picks” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), including the following:

• Dodge Dart
• Hyundai Santa Fe
• Lexus ES 350
• Subaru XV Crosstrek

To achieve the rating, each vehicle performed well in tests for front, side, and rear crashes as well as rollovers.

These vehicles were evaluated ahead of the standard IIHS annual testing schedule, at the request of their manufacturers. IIHS will release its annual safety report list in December.

Last year, IIHS tested 180 2012 model year vehicles, of which 132 were named “Top Safety Picks.”
