It’s a new year, and farmers all over the state are taking part in the U.S. Census of Agriculture, conducted every five years. On Real Virginia, Virginia Farm Bureau’s weekly television program, you can find out how the census benefits all Americans.

You also can learn what led to 2017 being a record-setting year for soybean growers, and meet a Pittsylvania County farmer who recently was named Southeastern Farmer of the Year. Additionally, we’ll give you a close-up look at agriculture in Chesapeake.

Real Virginia can be viewed online and airs nationwide at 3:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month on RFD-TV on Dish Network and DirecTV, and on selected cable outlets around the state. It airs weekly on WVPT Harrisonburg, WCVE Richmond, WHRO Norfolk, WVVA Bluefield and WTKR Norfolk.
