It’s a new year, and farmers all over the state are taking part in the U.S. Census of Agriculture, conducted every five years. On Real Virginia, Virginia Farm Bureau’s weekly television program, you can find out how the census benefits all Americans.

You also can learn what led to 2017 being a record-setting year for soybean growers, and meet a Pittsylvania County farmer who recently was named Southeastern Farmer of the Year. Additionally, we’ll give you a close-up look at agriculture in Chesapeake.

Real Virginia can be viewed online and airs nationwide at 3:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month on RFD-TV on Dish Network and DirecTV, and on selected cable outlets around the state. It airs weekly on WVPT Harrisonburg, WCVE Richmond, WHRO Norfolk, WVVA Bluefield and WTKR Norfolk.

If you’re a Farm Bureau producer member, your January issue of Virginia Farm Bureau News magazine will include coverage of the 2017 Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Annual Convention, along with information on upcoming conferences. There’s also a feature article on how Farm Bureau is celebrating and preserving history at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.

Associate members, your next issue of Cultivate magazine will arrive in February.
Current and back issues of both magazines can be viewed online
