RICHMOND—A recent consumer survey has revealed that nearly half of all Americans have ongoing confidence about the safety of the nation’s food supply.
Of those surveyed, 47 percent said they have remained confident in their food supply for the past three years. The findings were part of the 2010 Food and Health Survey recently published by the International Food Information Council Foundation.
Those not confident in their food safety declined to 18 percent in 2010 compared to 24 percent in 2009. Those neutral on food safety increased from 26 percent last year to 35 percent this year.
The survey is in its fifth year. It was created to provide insight on consumer attitudes regarding food safety, nutrition and health-related topics.
