AITC Teacher of the Year applications due Nov. 1

RICHMOND—Applications are being accepted through Nov. 1 for Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom’s Teacher of the Year recognition.

The award recognizes a Virginia teacher for excellence in incorporating agriculture into a core curriculum. All state-licensed pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teachers who are integrating agricultural concepts into non-vocational core subject areas are eligible to apply.

The honoree will receive $500 and an expense-paid trip to the 2017 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in June in Kansas City, Mo. He or she also will be encouraged to apply for the National Agriculture in the Classroom Excellence in Teaching Award.

This year’s winner was Donna Musick, a sixth grade math and science teacher at Damascus Middle School in Washington County.
