WASHINGTON—Charlottesville City Market was named Virginia’s state winner in American Farmland Trust’s16th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration™.

Since 2008, the national event has honored the role of farmers markets in their communities and the larger food system. Each year, the public is asked to vote on farmers markets between June 1 and July 31, and the markets receiving the most votes are declared winners. In addition to a national winner, there are regional winners and one from each state.

More than 1,500 markets nationwide participated in the 2024 celebration, drawing over 97,000 votes.
