Mark your calendars for the State Fair of Virginia!

There’s no place like home, and visitors to The Meadow Event Park this month can explore everything that makes our state special at the 2024 State Fair of Virginia!

Themed “Where Home Grown Happens,” the State Fair will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 6 to celebrate all that is grown, made and raised in the commonwealth. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a variety of unique entertainment, attractions, shopping and delectable fair food.

Highlights include live chainsaw carvings by artist Chad Gainey, Doc Belmont’s Magnificent Magical Medicine Show, Rockin’ A Ranch Petting Zoo, Rosaire’s Royal Racers, Triple Crown Circus, lawn mower racing and Revenge Roughstock Company’s rodeo performances.

Visitors can explore Virginia agriculture by viewing popular commodities growing in the Farmer’s Garden; see the award-winning giant pumpkins, watermelons and gourds in the Horticulture Pavilion; watch sliding ducks, hatching chicks, pigs, roosters, sheep and goats in Young MacDonald’s Farm; and view live equine competitions like mounted shooting and dancing dressage horses.

Kicking off the fair’s opening night is the annual Black Tie & Boots gala. The fundraising event will feature a spread from Mosaic Catering, desserts, an open bar with a signature cocktail, and live music. Proceeds will benefit the State Fair of Virginia Scholarship Program. Tickets are on sale through Sept. 14 at StateFairVa.org for $150 per person or $250 per couple. Tickets include entry to the fair and premium parking.

Another ticketed event is the second annual Taste of Virginia on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Meadow Hall. Guests will have the chance to taste delectable food, brews, wines and cocktails provided by some of Virginia’s finest. Proceeds will benefit the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom and the State Fair of Virginia Scholarship Program. Tickets include entry to the fair, premium parking, and access to live music on the Main Stage. Quantities are limited to 250, and tickets are on sale through Sept. 26 at StateFairVa.org for $100 each. Starting Sept. 27, tickets will be $115.

Don’t wait to purchase your tickets to this year’s fair! Advance tickets for fair entry are available for purchase online until Sept. 26.
