Grilled White Pizza

This recipe was prepared by Chef Tammy Brawley on Real Virginia, Virginia Farm Bureau’s weekly television program.

Brawley, who holds a degree in culinary arts and owns The Green Kitchen in Richmond, Va., shares delicious seasonal recipes in a Real Virginia segment sponsored by Virginia Grown, a program of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Grilled White Pizza

10-12 fresh garlic cloves, thinly sliced
12-15 large basil leaves, chopped
parchment paper
8-ounce premade pizza dough
⅓ cup olive oil
8-ounce ball of fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

Heat grill to medium-high.

On a sheet of parchment paper, roll out the pizza dough, and let it rest. Brush one side with olive oil. Once the grill is hot, place the dough on it and let it cook about 3-4 minutes, taking care to not let the crust burn.

Quickly flip the dough, and immediately brush that side with olive oil. Place the garlic and mozzarella on top. Reduce the heat, and cover the grill with its lid. Let the pizza cook about 3 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

Remove to a cutting board, and top with the basil.
