Goochland farmer elected chair of VFBF Young Farmers Committee

Goochland County farmer Thomas N. Henley was elected Dec. 4 to a two-year term as chair of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers Committee.



Grayson County farmer reelected to Farm Bureau board

Grayson County beef cattleman Richard L. Sutherland of Elk Creek was elected Dec. 4 to a fifth three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.



Rockbridge County farmer reelected to Farm Bureau board

Rockbridge County beef cattle and small grain producer Russell L. Williams II of Buena Vista was elected Dec. 4 to a fourth three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.

Hanover County grain and hay producer Leigh H. Pemberton of Doswell was elected Dec. 4 to a fourth three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.



Brunswick farmer elected to Virginia Farm Bureau board

Matt T. Fimon of Brunswick County was elected Dec. 4 to a three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.



Accomack County farmer reelected to Farm Bureau board

Accomack County vegetable and grain producer David L. Hickman of Horntown was elected Dec. 4 to a 10th three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.



Halifax forester elected to Virginia Farm Bureau board

Halifax County forester A. Bruce Slagle was elected Dec. 4 to the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors. He will complete the three-year term of Robert J. Mills Jr. of Pittsylvania County, who was elected VFBF vice president.



Southampton agricultural tech company wins ‘Bull Pen’ challenge

Southampton-based agricultural software and drone manufacturing company Agricision Inc. earned top honors in the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture, Innovation and Rural Sustainability Agricultural and Forestry Innovation Challenge.

Marshall Slaven of Bridgewater took top honors Dec. 3 in the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers Discussion Meet at the 2024 VFBF Annual Convention in Hot Springs.



VFBF saves local governments’ right to determine solar facility locations

The president of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation told farmers that the organization helped defeat legislation in this year’s General Assembly that would have taken away local governments’ ability to determine where commercial solar energy facilities are located.
