With professional wool shearers becoming increasingly rare and traditional sheep farmers facing other market challenges, hair sheep have gained traction in Virginia—steering many small ruminant producers in a new direction.

As the winter turns to spring, thousands of Virginia wool sheep will get their annual “haircut.”
