A small group of Nelson County chestnut orchards are helping to put domestic chestnuts back on the U.S map. They’re this month’s cover story in Cultivate magazine, which is mailed to Virginia Farm Bureau associate members.

The magazine also includes a feature on how to make fall and winter floral arrangements using natural materials from your own garden and yard.

Producer members, your next issue of Virginia Farm Bureau News magazine will arrive early next month.

Real Virginia, Virginia Farm Bureau’s weekly television program, joined a group of medical, nursing and nutrition students for a farm-to-table meal. Also on the show this month, Virginia farmers share their strategies for adapting to weather calamities, and a Charles City County grain producer recounts how he became a reality TV standout.

Real Virginia can be viewed online and airs nationwide at 3:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month on RFD-TV on Dish Network and DirecTV, and on selected cable outlets around the state. It airs weekly on WVPT Harrisonburg, WBRA Roanoke, WCVE Richmond, WHTJ Charlottesville, WHRO Norfolk, WVVA Bluefield and WTKR Norfolk.
